Presented by the Writers' Development Trust to a Canadian
woman author for outstanding prose writing in mid-career for her body of work.
This award was inaugurated in 1986; it honours the memory of writer, Marian
Engel. The jury consists of three Canadian writers. There is no
nomination process. Awarded in November.
